I don't get why everyone's saying Family Guy jumped when it returned to TV. I think those seasons (3-5) were the best. During its first run it was kinda dumb and not too funny. But seasons 3-5 were clever, witty, and well-written.
But the show jumped after season 6. It's like they stopped trying. Instead of cutaways and jabs being tastefully insulting, they just became cruel and not funny at all (like Peter forcing Cloris Leechman juggle beanbags vs. God being drunk while making Rosie O'Donnell). It's lost its edge. Family Guy used to be crude in a funny way. Now it's just dumb

The show has become nothing but Liberal propaganda. Yes, Seth, you don't like Republicans. WE GET IT! MOVE ON!
Another thing, why the f*ck is there a musical/singing scene in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE?! It always takes up 5 minutes and all it does is make the audience wonder when it's gonna end.
One more thing, the characters now are terrible. Peter is a dangerous retard, Lois is a whore, Stewie is gay, Brian is a liberal douchebag that makes no sense. I would say something about Chris and Meg, but they have never had the chance to be developed. We only see them for a combined 1 minute in each episode, and it's always Chris being stupid or Meg being made fun of.
I'm done with this stupid show. Ever since it came back from cancellation, it has sucked nuts.

I noticed something about the Meg-bashing...
When she complimented Brain's poetry, he rudely told her he was talking.
When she complimented Chris, he pointed out her mustache.
When she complimented Peter, he farted in her face.
When she complimented her mother, Peter told her that it was disgusting for her to hit on her own mother (even though Chris did the same exact thing she did) and demanded that she get out. When she didn't, he punched the wall and told her to get out in an angrier tone of voice. And, Lois is not to go unscathed, because she could have told Peter to leave Meg alone...and she didn't.
It seems that Meg is highly likely to get bashed when she compliments characters. Therefore, Meg shouldn't compliment the characters. They don't deserve compliments. They deserve to be insulted. I notice nothing bad happened to Meg when she called her father a "fatass" when he left her at the skating rink to come home in the rain. You can almost see the rest of the characters saying "Come on, Meg, compliment us so we can bash you good...come on, Meg..."

its jumped when the stewie movie came out then they became episodes i bought that what a waste of money jerks
Watched the latest episode of the current season and I was wondering how people actually consider it funny. Just tell me how destroying a children's hospital is funny? I tell you who likes this kind of jokes -- it's those teenagers who are going through that rebellious phase where they think everthing that is edgy, offensive or deviant = cool.

I'm really glad to see Samuelson MacGregor's comments, because countless fans of any "edgy" comedy have this ready-made answer to any complaints about it - they ASSUME it's because A. you have no sense of humor, or B. you're offended by the comedy. Or some combination of the two. To a million of them, there's no third reason! But there is! You can hate any comedy - religious, political, sexual, dark comedy, medical jokes, bathroom jokes, any kind - simply because you think it isn't funny! Like MacGregor, I'm not offended by it (up to and including the children's hospital bit), I just think it's gotten really, really unfunny.
Even though I live in Rhode Island, I'm getting tired of the show, the mysogny, the heavy handed "lessons" we are force fed each show (yeah we get it the story of Jesus is probably just a story. You only have to look at the rise of Obama to see how it could have happened 2000 years ago.) The jump the shark moment was the purposely annoying Bird is the Word rant, at that point the show ceased to be funny. Stick to random jokes about the freaks in hollywood and instead of the Bird rant borrow some lines from Tool's AEnima.
Meg made a nice compliment to Peter and he farted in her face. Knock it off Seth!! Now!! Its' not funny!!
I don't know about all of you, but IMO, Family Guy isn't the type of show where you focus on the plots. For me, it has been more about the random **** they throw in. A lot of the time, I don't even pay attention to the plot... I just take in the humor...
I can't believe how many people on this blog try to JTS a show based on its MORAL values!! Turn it off if you don't like it. Seeing Stewie in high heels and seeing the daughter make out with the dog is hilariously funny..last night I watched a rerun that had Leslie Uggams in it. Did anyone see the one with Betty White. A show JTS based on its artistic merit or lack thereof, not its MORALITY, folks!
Before it's return it was my favourite show, then after about 3 episodes into the new season i started getting disapointed. The surfing bird episode was by far the worst TV episode i have ever sat through
I agree with Rick and the other guest below. Jumped 11/16. Of course since writers alternate every week, it could be less terrible in the future, but the fact that they went through the trouble of producing the 11/16/08 episode is a signal of doom. Not only have I seen almost every plot element in it before, but the main plotline went out of its way to be irreverent and shocking with no comedic value whatsoever. At least usually it's funny, and there is some humanity to it. Peter's not the brightest guy ever, and that's what's usually funny about the plotlines that involve him. But he also doesn't destroy a children's hospital and then get put in jail for 7 days. Not humorous. And not because it's immoral or anything. I don't care about what is moral and what is not. But it just was not funny. I did not laugh once during the whole show, and thus it failed to do its job.
