I started with the show in about its 3rd season. I've been watching the ESPN Classic reruns for months, and none of the enjoyment has gone anywhere. And luckily they're showing the great 5th season, which all the other reruns left out! My love-at-first-sight crush on Lori "Ice" Fetrick hasn't changed a bit, but of course it's impossible to watch Shelley "Siren" Beattie without really mixed feelings. I'm glad a lot of the comments here - even from people who DIDN'T like the show - are original, and aren't full of the kinds of tired insult that a show like this OFTEN gets.
I guess it jumped for me when whats his name would make sooooo much out of the gladiators and Csonka. IE introducing Larry, "heres a guy who did battle many a time", or "heres a guy who would make the gladiators cry like bitches" and all the time Larry looking around like "who me?" and then when the contestant would kick a gladiators ass he would ask "did you get lucky or what? I bet you wish you would have never run into (insert stupid name here) Hammer!!!.
Love the show! It's addictive and mindlessly entertaining. Sure, it's not the most sophisticated stuff on television, but it's pretty hilarious.

Watch it on Mondays! 8 o'clock!
The modern show just jumped the shark when it had the amputee contestant.
Suicide
I like the new Gladiators (especially Wolf), and I'll be watching the next season when it premires in 5 days
Well, it was finally nice to be able to sit and enjoy some episodes of the old " American Gladiators " without arrogant Nitro and his smart assed, sarcastic attitude criticizing contenders and their skills. I really didn't care too much for him when he made his much awaited return to the show and that's when he started acting like he was Mr. bigshot and acting like he was calling the shots and I also noticed that in the Elimanator round, most of the time he would be standing under the bicycle arms with another male gladiator model and when both of the contenders completed the course,
he would just walk off the set and wouldn't even go over and at least shake the contenders' hands. I really lost all respect for him when he was made co-host of the show and he really started being arrogant. I would've gone with another female co-host for the show, like Zap, who I wondered why she parted ways with the show ?
First, NBC had the gall to air XFL football back in 2001, which lasted all of one season. Now they have the nerve to bring back a show that should have stayed in syndication heaven. Perhaps on Meredith Vieira's final day at NBC, she should be required to make an appearance on AG inside the gigantic cylinder ball like she did on her Today Show gig in England!
the cause of her death has not been made public yet. feels really weird to watch the reruns with her now.
I also just recieved the news that the female gladiator model named Siren
( Shelley Beattie ) from the old version of " American Gladiators " has died. Does anbody know what caused her death ?
" Press Your Luck " was the game of that game show that Gemini was on,
I couldn't think of the name of it.
To be honest, I thought it was " Wheel of Fortune " because all I heard about it was spinning.
shelley beattie(original siren) passed away last week
Well, I gave this show a chance last night. I have only seen the ads for it and it looked like a fairly good competition. I also was a big fan of the Hulk back in the 80s.

I got my drink and snack and was ready to go at 8PM. The Hulk gave his little intro and I extected the games to begin right after that. Well, they talked to the guys and explained their whole background. One of them was a replacement for an injured player. This talk went on and on. It was a 1.5 hour show. I started to think the extra 30 minutes was to fit in the talk.

After about 5 minutes of this, they hadn't even got to the ladies yet and no events took place. I turned that crap off. I did not tune in to see people jawing about the games. Must be an NBC thing. They did that a lot during the olympics. Who cares about these peoples stories. Just show the events.

So much for AG for me. I won't watch it again. Maybe I will Tivo it sometime and advance to the games.
